In keeping with our mission ” … to increase public appreciation and awareness … ” the Art Guild of Louisiana continuously strives to provide exhibit opportunities throughout the Baton Rouge area for our members and other artists. We are the only local organization to offer artists an opportunity to showcase paintings accomplished in a workshop or instructional setting, with our annual Workshop Show. All exhibits are non-juried to encourage artists of all proficiency levels to participate, except for the annual River Road Show. The Art Guild of Louisiana’s premier exhibit is the River Road Show, a national juried and judged competition. Awards totaling several thousand dollars are presented at this exhibit. Judges for the show are nationally recognized artists/authors/instructors from random states and are experienced in a variety of mediums. Read more about the River Road Show here.
Four regular exhibits are held throughout the year at the Independence Park Theatre Gallery, our primary exhibit location. We host two non-juried, judged shows, open to the public, awarding cash and ribbon prizes. We also host two member only exhibits, awarding a People’s Choice ribbon. Each exhibit hangs for two months with an awards reception held midway. Exhibits consists of all 2 dimensional art media, excluding photography, giclées or other non-original art. The Art Guild of Louisiana also periodically hosts exhibits in several other venues around Baton Rouge such as restaurants, hospitals, libraries, and other public buildings.
